Last year's wave of job cuts didn't signal the end of workforce reductions, as further downsizing initiatives have commenced in 2024.

Among the notable companies announcing plans for layoffs this year are industry giants such as IBM, Google, Microsoft, Nike, and Intel.

The list of corporations downsizing their employee numbers in 2024 continues to expand.

In 2023, various companies across the technology, media, finance, and retail sectors underwent significant staff reductions.

Notable entities included tech leaders like IBM, Google, and Microsoft, as well as finance giants such as Goldman Sachs and manufacturers like Dow.

The outlook for 2024 appears grim, even in its early stages.

A survey conducted by ResumeBuilder revealed that nearly 40% of business leaders anticipate layoffs within their organizations this year. Moreover, approximately half of the surveyed leaders foresee their companies implementing a hiring freeze.

The survey, which polled around 900 leaders from companies with more than 10 employees, highlighted concerns about a potential recession as a primary driver for these actions.

Artificial intelligence is also playing a significant role in reshaping the job market.

Around 40% of respondents indicated that they would be conducting layoffs as they transition to AI-driven systems. Companies such as Dropbox, Google, and IBM have already announced job cuts related to AI integration.
