Seventeen-year-old Kaitlin Hernandez, a high school student from Texas, was found murdered under a bridge in her San Antonio neighborhood two weeks ago.

Her family is pleading for justice for the young girl described as "sweet" and beloved.

Crystal Rodriguez, Hernandez's aunt, spoke to Fox News Digital, urging the person responsible for her niece's death to come forward.

Hernandez had gone for a walk with a male friend around 7:30 p.m. on March 12, but never returned. Concerned, her grandmother contacted the police when she did not return within the expected time frame. Later, Hernandez's naked body was found in a drainage ditch beneath a bridge on Dell Oak Drive.

The male friend, who had previously spent time with Hernandez, was detained by the police as a person of interest and has been cooperating with the investigation. However, he has not been named or cleared as a suspect.

The investigation into Hernandez's murder is ongoing, with the SAPD Homicide Unit leading the case. The Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office confirmed that Hernandez's cause of death was strangulation.

Describing Hernandez as a kind and loving person, Rodriguez expressed her confusion and pain over the senseless act.

Hernandez had plans to become a veterinarian and was deeply involved in her church.

The area where Hernandez's body was found is known for its homeless population and drug activity, adding to the mystery of why anyone would want to harm her.

The community of San Antonio honored Hernandez's memory with a march that started at the bridge where her body was discovered. Rodriguez also thanked former Republican Texas Rep.

Mayra Flores for her support in raising awareness about Hernandez's story.

San Antonio Crime Stoppers is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the case. Anyone with information is urged to contact the SAPD Homicide Unit.

Hernandez, who was set to graduate from Roosevelt High School in May, had tragically lost her 18-year-old sister, Kaylee, the year before.
