The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office has initiated an investigation following a disturbing discovery at Warnimont Park, where a local resident stumbled upon a human leg.
The leg was found at Warnimont Park on Tuesday, April 2, just before 5:30 p.m., "in or near the water" along Lake Michigan, east of the golf course near the pump house. James Burnett, acting Chief of Staff with the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office, informed Fox News Digital that the severed leg is being investigated as a homicide and that a person of interest is in custody.
According to Burnett, the Milwaukee County Dispatch Center received a report from a park visitor who discovered the human leg. John Hemmer, a frequent visitor, described the find as very disturbing and shocking, especially in such a quiet area. Hemmer said, "It’s just amazing to me.
In a quiet area like this, something so heinous could happen."
Warnimont Park is situated in Cudahy, Wisconsin, a small suburb approximately eight miles away. Eric Ruckstadter, another visitor to the park, expressed his shock, saying, "We come here often, and we regard it as a safe place for the family to go walking, and to hear about something like this is quite a shock."
Despite the unsettling discovery, Ruckstadter stated that he will continue to visit the park but will be more cautious.
He added, "As long as there are other people around like there is frequently, I’ll feel safe."
Burnett emphasized that there is limited information available at this time to avoid interfering with the investigation, but he did confirm that the leg belonged to a human.
