A man was apprehended after driving a car into a residence in east London and subsequently attacking individuals with a sword, as per the authorities.
The event unfolded around 7 a.m. local time when the Metropolitan Police in London were informed of a "serious incident" in Hainault, east London. The reports indicated a vehicle had collided with a house in the Thurlow Gardens area, and multiple people had been stabbed. A police statement described the early morning incident, stating, "At this juncture, we understand the suspect proceeded to assault other members of the public and two police officers." Emergency services responded to the scene, and the suspect, a 36-year-old man, was taken into custody.
Deputy Assistant Commissioner Ade Adelekan expressed concern, stating, "This must have been a terrifying incident for those affected. I know the wider community will be feeling shock and alarm."
