A mother and her daughter were apprehended in a sting operation on Wednesday for allegedly administering illicit butt injections without any medical qualifications.
Consuelo Dal Bo, aged 56, and her daughter Isabella Dal Bo, aged 18, are facing charges of practicing medicine without a license, categorized as a misdemeanor.
According to court records, the women arranged to perform buttock injections at a residence for a fee of $6,000, unaware that their client was an undercover law enforcement officer.
The substances they planned to use for injections were described as an unmarked brown liquid, indicating uncertainty about their composition, as highlighted in a bail motion submitted by the Harris County District Attorney’s Office. Prosecutors emphasized the severe risks associated with such actions.
In addition to the injections, Consuelo Dal Bo allegedly provided Xanax to the client to induce relaxation before the procedure. The arrests took place separately in Cypress, Texas, where authorities seized bags containing illicit injectables and medical equipment, as reported by NBC affiliate KPRC of Houston.
The duo was suspected of traveling nationwide to offer these unauthorized injections to clients.
The investigation involved the Houston Police Department’s Major Offenders Division, along with agents from the Federal Drug Administration and Homeland Security Investigations.
Consuelo Dal Bo's bail was set at $10,000, while her daughter's was set at $5,000. Both have been released on bail under conditions requiring them to surrender their passports, refrain from firearm possession, undergo electronic monitoring, and are prohibited from practicing medicine without a license.
They are scheduled to appear in Harris County court on April 10, though it remains uncertain if they have retained legal representation.
The incident underscores the dangers associated with illegal injections, which have resulted in fatalities in the past.
In a separate case in 2021, a mother and daughter faced murder charges in California after a botched buttock injection led to the death of 26-year-old Karissa Rajpaul in October 2019. Authorities revealed that neither the mother nor the daughter possessed medical certification or training.
