The United Nations Human Rights Office has affirmed that targeting individuals or entities involved in humanitarian aid can constitute war crimes.
This assertion follows a deadly Israeli strike on aid workers in Gaza.
Jeremy Laurence, spokesperson for the U.N. Human Rights Office, stated, "Attacks on individuals or objects engaged in humanitarian aid could amount to war crimes."
He reiterated the High Commissioner's call to end impunity for such actions.
The incident occurred when a convoy of World Central Kitchen workers, who provide food relief in crisis zones, was struck on Monday night. Seven workers lost their lives after overseeing the unloading of 100 tons of food delivered to the Palestinian enclave by sea.
