Tragedy Strikes: Crane Crash Claims One Life, Injures Three in Fort Lauderdale!

A tragic incident unfolded in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, resulting in the death of one individual and injuries to three others.

The event transpired when a segment of a crane, undergoing height extension, became dislodged and plummeted from a building.

The plummeting crane section collided with a car on a bridge, resulting in significant damage. Regrettably, a construction worker lost his life in the mishap, while two others required hospitalization, and one received immediate on-site care.

The collapse occurred at approximately 16:30 local time on Thursday, during efforts by a construction crew to elevate the crane's height. Officials elucidated that the crew was "stepping the crane" by adding segments to it when a platform and segments of the crane fell from the building.

Thankfully, the crane itself remained affixed to the building.

Authorities have withheld the names of the victims. Witnesses recounted alarming scenes, with one driver narrowly evading the falling debris.

The occurrence has prompted the closure of the Southeast 3rd Avenue bridge and the New River to marine traffic, as officials probe the cause of the incident.

Motorists are advised to steer clear of the area until the bridge is deemed safe for use once more.
