olice in West Palm Beach, Florida, announced the discovery of an infant's remains on Tuesday evening at a waste management facility.
According to NBC Miami, a worker from the Solid Waste Authority called 911 around 5:25 p.m.
to report potential human remains at the SWA Renewable Energy Facility on North Jog Road. Detectives searched the tipping floor, where garbage trucks deposit their loads, and confirmed that the remains were from an infant.
An investigation is now underway to identify the remains, which have been transferred to the medical examiner's office.
Detectives are also examining surveillance footage.
