Anne Hathaway first disclosed her decision to give up drinking following a severe hangover in 2018. She has now proudly maintained her sobriety for over five years.
The actress initially discussed her choice to forgo alcohol during an appearance on the "Ellen DeGeneres Show," expressing her desire to be fully present for her young son. In a recent interview with The New York Times, she reflected on her health and entering her forties.
"There are many milestones I celebrate. Although I don't often mention it, I have been sober for over five years," she shared with The New York Times. "That feels significant to me. Turning forty feels like a blessing. I'm cautious about labeling things as 'middle age' because I'm a stickler for semantics, and who knows, I could be hit by a car later today. We can't predict if this is middle age. We can't predict anything."
During the interview, Hathaway also hinted at the possibility of a third installment of "The Princess Diaries."
When asked about "The Princess Diaries 3," she simply replied, "Yep."
This comment came as a surprise, as Hathaway had previously stated that another sequel was unlikely and that the franchise belonged to her past.
Hathaway's upcoming film, "The Idea of You," will premiere on Prime Video on May 2. In the movie, she portrays Solène, a divorced mother who unexpectedly falls in love with a much younger, famous man. Directed by Michael Showalter, the film is based on Robinne Lee’s romance novel and also stars Nicholas Galitzine.
