U.S. Representative Lauren Boebert underwent surgery on Tuesday for a blood clot in her leg, along with a diagnosis of a vascular condition, her campaign announced Tuesday night.
According to her campaign's statement, the "acute blood clot" was discovered during a CT scan following swelling in her upper left leg.
Boebert, a Republican from Colorado, reassured that this health issue will not impact her congressional duties and that she is expected to fully recover.
Boebert has been diagnosed with May-Thurner Syndrome, a vascular condition known to cause blood clots. In a statement, she stated, "I'm looking forward to making a full recovery and getting back to Congress to continue fighting for Colorado."
The clot was discovered on Monday, and the surgery was performed on Tuesday morning at the UCHealth Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland, according to the campaign's statement.
Boebert, a member of the far-right faction of the Republican Party, defeated five-term Republican Rep. Scott Tipton in 2020 to secure her first term. She is currently serving her second term after a close victory against a Democrat in 2022.
In December, she announced her candidacy for re-election in a different district of Colorado, one she has not represented before.
