has reported that the FBI is currently conducting an investigation into allegations that New York Mayor Eric Adams may have received complimentary upgrades on Turkish Airlines flights, as per sources familiar with the matter.
This investigation forms part of a broader inquiry into potential corruption involving a high-ranking executive at Turkish Airlines, aides to the mayor, and Mayor Adams himself.
Previously, Adams had his electronic devices seized in connection with this investigation. Sources suggest that the inquiry is examining whether donations from Turkey were exchanged for political favors, potentially involving exerted pressure on the New York Fire Department regarding the operational certification of the new Turkish consulate.
The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York declined to comment on the matter. Mayor Adams has not been formally accused of any wrongdoing and maintains that he has nothing to hide.
In a statement provided toBrendan McGuire, Mayor Adams' attorney, emphasized, "As Borough President, the Mayor consistently disclosed his official travel to Turkey, did not receive any improper upgrades, and did nothing inappropriate in exchange for an upgrade. Speculation is not evidence. We look forward to a just and timely conclusion to this investigation."
