On Monday afternoon, an individual drove a vehicle into the front gate of the Atlanta FBI office and was promptly apprehended by FBI officials.
The incident occurred as the driver attempted to follow an authorized vehicle entering the gate, leading to the deployment of a pop-up barrier to stop the unauthorized vehicle, officials confirmed.
According to a statement from the FBI Atlanta, "Today, a person rammed into FBI Atlanta's front gate shortly after noon.
He was not associated with this facility."
"Several of our special agents who were passing by apprehended the man after he exited his vehicle," FBI Atlanta continued.
"Currently, we are looking into both state and federal charges."
Fortunately, no injuries were reported, according to FBI officials.
The man's motives are unknown, and he is currently being evaluated at a local hospital, officials said.
As part of standard operating procedure, FBI agents and bomb technicians inspected the vehicle, and the investigation is ongoing, officials confirmed.
