Taiwanese authorities have conducted an airlift operation to deliver 928 pounds of food to individuals trapped at a quarry.
The incident occurred following a 7.2-magnitude earthquake in Hualien county, which left 64 people stranded at Heping Mine.
The quake has resulted in nine fatalities and 186 injuries in Hualien.
Rescue efforts have been underway, with drones deployed to survey the Heping Mine region.
The cause of the entrapment is still unknown, and it remains uncertain whether the individuals need to be rescued from underground.
Additionally, six people were initially reported trapped at Zhonghe quarry but were later rescued via helicopter.
In Hualien, apart from the quarry incidents, 24 tourists are reportedly stuck in a cave, and five hotel employees are also trapped. Furthermore, 52 people are still missing, primarily employees of a local hotel heading to Taroko National Park.
The earthquake caused significant damage, with collapsed and tilted buildings, landslides, and falling rocks.
Rescue operations have been challenging, with people stranded on mountain roads and in tunnels.
Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing (TSMC) evacuated its supply lines, affecting its operations, although over 70% of its tools had recovered within 10 hours.
Numerous aftershocks have been recorded, but their intensity is diminishing.
The earthquake, initially measured at 7.2 on the Richter scale by Taiwanese authorities, was estimated at 7.4 by US assessments.
