Authorities searching for three missing tourists in Mexico have reportedly discovered three bodies, according to reports on Friday afternoon.
The missing individuals, Australian brothers Jake and Callum Robinson, along with their American friend Carter Rhoad, were last seen before failing to return to their accommodation in Baja California on Saturday, April 27.
Following their disappearance, three arrests have been made, and bodies have allegedly been located. The distressing find was made at La Bocana, a popular fishing and camping spot near Ensenada, according to CBS8.
The Baja California attorney general has yet to officially confirm this development. Earlier, Mexican authorities had detained three individuals, including a woman found in possession of a mobile phone with a picture matching one of the missing men.
The Robinson brothers' family revealed that Jake had traveled to the US to visit his sibling, with the trio journeying south of the border to Ensenada, a tourist hotspot overshadowed by cartel activities.
The family last heard from them on the Saturday of their disappearance. Their vehicle was later discovered burnt out, and their abandoned tents were found nearby.
Maria Elena Andrade Ramirez, the Baja California attorney general, expressed regret that authorities were not alerted sooner, leading to crucial time being lost in the search.
The parents of the Australian brothers, Martin and Debra Robinson, shared with 9News that Callum had moved to the US to pursue a career as a professional lacrosse player, where he is known as the Big Koala.
“Callum and Jake are beautiful human beings. We love them so much and this breaks our heart,” the couple said.
Both US and Australian authorities have expressed readiness to support the investigation in any way needed.
