Columbia University Shocks with Commencement Cancellation Amidst Campus Protests!

Columbia University has decided to cancel its main commencement ceremony in light of recent events. Demonstrations over the Israel-Hamas conflict have disrupted campus activities, leading the university to opt for smaller-scale graduations.

The ceremony, originally scheduled for May 15, typically takes place outdoors on the New York City campus. However, the recent pro-Palestinian encampment set up by students was dismantled by police last week, prompting concerns about safety and security.

In response to the protests and the potential for further unrest, Columbia University administrators have chosen to prioritize the safety of students and guests.

This decision was made with the intention of avoiding potential conflicts and ensuring a peaceful environment for all attendees.

As a result, the university will proceed with smaller ceremonies for its various schools, including nursing, journalism, and teaching.
