Florida's fish and wildlife commission is currently on the lookout for a boater who fled the scene after a tragic incident on Saturday afternoon.
The boater fatally struck a girl who was waterskiing around 4:30 p.m. near Nixon Beach in Key Biscayne, Miami-Dade County.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission provided details of the incident in a social media update, stating that the boat struck the girl, resulting in her death from the sustained injuries.
As of Sunday, the FWC has refrained from disclosing further information, including the girl's age and identity.
The FWC is actively seeking the boat involved, which was last seen heading west from Nixon Beach. Described as a center console boat with a light blue hull, the watercraft may have blue or dark blue bottom paint and is equipped with multiple white outboard motors, according to the commission.
