Harry Kane has revealed that Jude Bellingham tried to distract him during a crucial penalty for Bayern Munich against Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-final. Bellingham, the Real Madrid midfielder, was seen whispering to Kane as the Bayern Munich striker prepared to take the spot-kick in the first leg. However, Kane managed to score, giving Bayern a 2-1 lead at Allianz Arena. Vinicius Junior later equalized for Real Madrid from the spot, and the match ended in a draw.
Kane admitted that he did not hear Bellingham's words during the match but learned about them later. "In the moment, I didn’t know what he said, but I spoke to him after, and he said: ‘I know you’re going to go left of the keeper'," Kane explained. Despite not hearing Bellingham's words on the pitch, Kane chose to go left, noticing that the goalkeeper moved early, allowing him to score.
After the match, Kane asked Bellingham what he had said, and the England midfielder laughed, realizing that Kane had been too focused to hear him. Kane's goal was his 43rd in 43 games in all competitions this season, aiding Bayern in their pursuit of the Champions League title, their last chance for silverware this season.
Kane joined Bayern last summer for an initial £86m, hoping to win trophies with the club. However, Bayer Leverkusen ended their run in the German Cup, and Bayern were knocked out of the competition by third-tier side Saarbrucken. The result sets the stage for the second leg at the Bernabeu to determine the finalist for the match at Wembley on June 1st.
