Galaxy's Puig Sounds Alarm Ahead of Messi Showdown: Can LA Stop the GOAT?

LA Galaxy midfielder Riqui Puig has issued a cautionary statement to his team ahead of their upcoming match against Inter Miami, a team featuring his former Barcelona teammates Lionel Messi and Luis Suárez. 

This comes after Messi and Suárez helped Inter Miami secure a victory against Real Salt Lake on the opening night of the 2024 MLS season.

Despite facing a challenging preseason, Gerardo "Tata" Martino's Inter Miami displayed resilience, with Robert Taylor and Diego Gómez scoring to secure a crucial three points. 

Meanwhile, LA Galaxy, under Greg Vanney, will be looking to put behind a disappointing previous season, where they failed to make the playoffs.

Puig, who now dons the number 10 jersey following Douglas Costa's departure, emphasized the significance of stopping Messi.

Puig praised Messi as the best player in the world and highlighted his recent outstanding performance against Real Salt Lake. The upcoming match between LA Galaxy and Inter Miami at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson is crucial for both teams, as they aim to move past their past performances and focus on qualifying for the playoffs and ultimately, the MLS Cup.
