U.S. Homeland Security reportedly conducted searches at two of Sean "Diddy" Combs' residences on Monday as part of a federal investigation.
The searches took place at Combs' Los Angeles and Miami homes, with federal officials raiding his LA residence amidst lawsuits from accusers alleging rape or sexual assault by the rapper and music mogul.
It remains unclear whether Combs was present during the raids.
In response to inquiries regarding the case, a spokesperson for Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) New York stated on Monday to USA TODAY that "HSI New York executed law enforcement actions as part of an ongoing investigation, with assistance from HSI Los Angeles, HSI Miami, and our local law enforcement partners. Further information will be provided as it becomes available."
Nicholas Biase, chief spokesman for the U.S. Attorney's Office in Manhattan, also declined to comment on the matter.
According to the New York Times, Justice Department prosecutors in the Southern District of New York are leading the investigation.
Helicopter footage from Fox 11 showed law enforcement personnel at what is believed to be Combs' LA residence.
The footage depicted armed agents outside and around the Holmby Hills mansion in West LA, with Los Angeles Police Department vehicles and officers cordoning off the residential street.
USA TODAY has sought comment from Combs' representatives.
The searches are reportedly part of an ongoing sex trafficking investigation in New York, as per reports from NBC News, the Los Angeles Times, and the AP.
Several individuals have been interviewed regarding allegations against Combs related to sex trafficking, sexual assault, and other offenses.
Combs has been facing multiple lawsuits filed in recent months alleging rape or sexual assault by several alleged victims over several decades.
Most recently, a music producer who collaborated with Combs on his latest record, "The Love Album: Off the Grid," filed a lawsuit in February, accusing him of engaging in serious illegal activities, including sexual assault.
In December, an anonymous accuser filed a lawsuit alleging that Combs and his associates raped her when she was 17 years old.
The month prior, a woman named Joi Dickerson-Neal filed a lawsuit against Combs, claiming she was drugged, sexually assaulted, and abused, and was also the victim of revenge porn.
Additionally, Combs' ex-girlfriend, singer Cassie Ventura, accused him of rape, sex trafficking, and physical abuse. They settled for an undisclosed amount a day later.
The lawsuits filed by Dickerson-Neal and Ventura were filed before the New York Adult Survivors Act deadline, which allowed victims of sexual abuse a one-year window to make claims that would otherwise be barred by time limits.
Combs has denied all accusations against him.
Douglas Wigdor, a lawyer representing Cassie Ventura and Jane Doe, released a statement on Monday following reports of the search warrant on Combs, stating, "We will always support law enforcement when it seeks to prosecute those who have violated the law.
Hopefully, this is the beginning of a process that will hold Mr. Combs responsible for his depraved conduct."
Attorney Tyrone Blackburn, who represents some of Combs' accusers, commented to Rolling Stone, saying, "It's about time. Sometimes justice delayed is not justice denied, so long as justice ultimately arrives."
