Shocking! Missouri AG Faces School District's Fury Over Investigation

Initiating an inquiry into a Missouri school district where a teenage girl was brutally assaulted, Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey stated to Fox News Digital that the school is declining to cooperate.

Last week, Bailey announced that he would investigate the Hazelwood School District and how their diversity, equity, and inclusion programs contributed to safety failures following the violent attack.

After days of silence from the school district, a spokesperson responded to Bailey, claiming his investigation contained inaccuracies. Bailey shared the email correspondence exclusively with Fox News.

Cindy Reeds Ownsby, an attorney for the Hazelwood School District, criticized Bailey for disrespecting public school administrators and elected officials, accusing him of sending error-filled correspondence to intimidate and threaten their leadership.

Owner claimed the March 8 altercation did not occur during school hours but rather after school hours and off school property.

She questioned Bailey's integrity, implying that his assumptions about the incident were racially motivated.

In response, Bailey clarified that his investigation was based on publicly available reporting and the district's own policies, not unsupported allegations.

He emphasized that the investigation seeks to uncover facts surrounding the incident.

The exchange continued with Ownsby questioning Bailey's representation of all Missouri citizens and accusing him of making false assumptions. Bailey reiterated the purpose of the investigation and urged the district to comply with Missouri law regarding the release of records.

Ownsby stated that the district would provide the requested records by April 15, and Bailey affirmed that the investigation would determine whether the district violated Missouri's Human Rights Act.

An update on the victim, Kaylee, indicated that she is reportedly breathing on her own, has been moved out of the ICU, and remains in stable condition.
