Mexican authorities have located three bodies in Baja California, where two Australians and one American were reported missing, according to sources familiar with the investigation.
Australian brothers Callum (33) and Jake Robinson (30), along with American Jack Carter Rhoad (30), were last seen on April 27 while vacationing and surfing in Ensenada, about 90 minutes south of the U.S.-Mexico border.
Despite requests for updated information on the case, the state prosecutor's office in Baja California has not responded.
State prosecutor Socorro Ibarra stated on Thursday that three individuals were being investigated in connection with the case, though it remains unclear whether they were involved in the men's disappearance. Tents were found in the area where the men were last seen, but they were not reported missing until several days later.
Additionally, authorities discovered a burnt white pickup truck in the vicinity.
While tourist areas like Ensenada are considered relatively safe, Baja California is known for its high levels of violence. The U.S. State Department advises Americans to reconsider travel to the state due to crime and kidnapping risks.
Neither the U.S. embassy in Mexico nor Australia's foreign ministry in Canberra has responded to requests for comment.
